Making Money on the Road

Many new virtual opportunities keep cropping up in broadcasting, publishing, recording, advertising and list-building.

• One of our fave new ways to keep growing is by using Amazon KDP Direct -- publish ebooks with them and make more money than you would with a traditional publisher. You can also sell your blog through Amazon and advertise your services and events on your own Author Page.

• ACX (Audiobook Creation Exchange) - this downloadable service is affiliated with Amazon, iTunes and Audible. It's a fab way to get your recordings on the market and in front of a lot of folks.

• The newest version of Microsoft Word gives you a "record" function so you can record a slide presentation, record your voice and have a new video product or sales video without a lot of editing.

• Facebook Advertising -- there has never been a better way to target your audience to grow your business. You can target users by income, gender, interests and even who they follow. You can also retarget your own list so they hear about you in multiple ways.

• Leadpages -- if you have a Wordpress website, then Leadpages is an easy way to get folks to sign up for your list or presentation. They have tried-and-true intro pages, and it literally takes you 5 minutes to create an effective one -- even if you have no expertise at all.

Favorite FREE Travel Apps

We are continuously discovering more and more useful travel apps! Here is a short list of some of our favorites that we take every time we're on the road.

• Waze -- Peerless GPS in many countries with warnings when police are near, the speed limit changes or upcoming road hazards. It will always route you in the fastest, easiest way.

• Uber -- This app gets you a taxi within minutes wherever you are. You don't exchange money (your credit card is stored) and the driver knows exactly where you are due to GPS pinpointing. Saved our bums in Chicago recently!

• WorldMate -- Store all of your travel itineraries (flights, hotels, rentals...) and receive alerts without the need for tedious data entry. Just forward your emails and the organization is done for you.

• XE Currency -- No matter where you go, you can convert currencies in real time and store your favorites for offline use. Always know just how much money you are REALLY spending when using foreign notes.
