Kathryn & Jon in Indian Wells, CA
Kathryn & Jon Enjoy a Fun Day at the
PNB Paribas Open Tennis Tournament

Dear Fellow Traveler,

Hope you're having a good start to Spring! The weather has been very un-spring-like here which is great if you're a Portable Lifestyler who can chase endless summer.

We have friends who skip winter altogether. You can choose which season you'd like to be having just by crossing the equator at the right time. As a PLer, you do not have to settle.

As for us, we're doing great. Enjoying Spring Break in our new home, which is really hard to leave. But trips to Palm Springs for a tennis open, Bakersfield for two AYSO soccer tournaments, and Williamsburg on the East Coast for a history lesson have been fun.

As for the other side of the world, our 29-year-old is about to leave for Poland and we are planning a visit to Thailand later in the year.

Read on to find out just why we like to travel so much.

Abundant Travels,
             Kathryn & Jon

Why Do We Like to Travel So Much?

Travel Map Pins Recent research revealed that one of the single best things to talk about to bond with anyone is TRAVEL. Kathryn has always said in her work that this is a rich first date topic.

Talking about travel will bond you with anyone. We have some friends we bonded with over loving the tropics and just came back from our 1st trip with them - to the PNB Paribas Open tennis tournament in Palm Springs where we got to see Roger Federer play at long last.

Why do we like to travel so much? And why is the subject so bonding?

One explanation is that humans were nomadic in the beginning, and it's our very nature.

But might it be that we get bored and need some change? That travel expands our horizons and provides adventure?

We're not here to live life sitting back in a feathered nest with each day being the same (even if you are an introvert). That gets boring in a hurry

Travel expands us, challenges us and provides new experiences and education.

We have found that ever since we embarked upon this Portable Lifestyle, we attract a more international set.

A recent lunch at our house included people from France, Turkey, Britain, Italy, China and the Philippines. And the Americans in the bunch all were well-traveled, too.

This was not planned but you magnetize from where you are in your experience.

One thing is sure - travel makes one a more expanded, more sophisticated and worldly person.

As you enter a Portable Lifestyle - where travel is possible all of the time -- you will
make the best friends of your life.

And if you are opening to love now, you will magnetize a love that transcends locale, as well (as Kathryn sees with so many who do her love work).

We hope you will examine why you like to travel and love your freedom and commit to really going for it as Spring is here to create a life where you're a nomad at will, independent of having to be anywhere at anytime.

That level of freedom is exhilarating!

Strengthen Your Relationship w/ Money

Mexican Pesos Large Living The Portable Lifestyle™ does not require you to save your cash, dip into a vacation fund, or sell off your assets. In fact, to truly live the portable life of your dreams, you need to disconnect yourself from the limitations of what you believe money is and how to make a living. Whether you are working a standard 9-5 day job, you are a self-employed consultant, you are a business owner, or you live off of interest on your assets, the main ingredient for portability is "cash flow".

You can be a millionaire ten times over, but if all of your money is tied up in assets or if there is a sudden economic downturn as with the stock and housing markets recently, you will have limited or no cash available to live day-to-day. On the other hand, you can be completely broke and hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt and still live quite comfortably if you can get the cash flowing in the right direction. Whatever your situation, you can change your focus on how money flows and be well on your way to wealth and adventures you have always dreamed of.

Here is an exercise to help you focus your attention on abundance of and not the obstacles in your path that may seem so overwhelming right now. Spend a little time each day following these simple steps in order to retrain your brain into allowing the abundance of the universe to shine through you and your wallet.

1)   Take out a paper bill. It can be as little as $1 or as big as £100. It can be in pristine mint condition or completely tattered. The quality of the paper on which it is printed is meaningless. You can even do this exercise with Monopoly money if you choose.

2)   Focus your attention on this bill intensely. Look at the design, at every shape and symbol. Imagine the care that was taken to design such a beautiful object. Say to yourself, "This is mine. I own this bill."

3)   Search your mind for positive and happy memories that are tied to money and your use of it. It could be the first time your father gave you money to pay for a toy, buying your soulmate her engagement ring, or when you paid a larger-than-called-for tip after a wonderful experience. Remember these events vividly. Imagine bigger and better experiences to come.

4)   Now stare directly at the bill and speak the following mantra aloud (or if you are in a place where you do not want to be heard, speak it into you head), "I appreciate you. I can feel the power I have when I am with you. I look forward to many happy times together. Thank you for all of the support you have given me over the years. I am one with you. I am one with money."

5)   Then gently put the bill back in your wallet, pin it to your bulletin or vision board, or place it between the pages of your favorite book. Treat it with respect and it will do the same for you. Release this bill back into the universe and prepare for the cash to flow in ways you never imagined possible!
